Guizhou is located in southwestern China, and it's a mountainous province. In the multi-ethnic province, traditional buildings are adapted to the mountain’s topography in different ways, which is also the main concern of this new project. Additionally, Guizhou is a province that is rainy all year round. To make students have more space for outdoor activities on those rainy days, the campus adopts a lot of ideas from traditional Chinese architecture and gardens.
Inspired by traditional Chinese architecture and classical Chinese gardens, the campus has adopted a lot of architectural vocabulary from them. Despite using modern technology and materials, the campus shares the qualities of the space with a traditional Chinese garden.
